This is a really big deal!  In last night’s State of the Union Address, President Obama called for universal access to preschool so that “none of our children start the race of life already behind.”  That the President of the United States declared such a national goal in the biggest speech of the year shows how far we have come in getting the message out about the critical importance of early childhood education.  Illinois should heed the President’s call and reinvest in preschool to give children in Illinois a head start in life.
